28 Remember the Sabbath Day to Keep it Holy

In this lesson we will discover that Sabbath Day activities are for our physical renewal, spiritual strength and to show our love for God.

There are some activities that are provided for us to meet these purposes, such as sacrament meeting, Sunday school, or youth firesides. However, most of our time on the Sabbath is for us to direct.

What activities do you enjoy doing on the Sabbath to meet (at least) one of the three purposes mentioned above (in bold)?

As part of the lesson we will be making a list of appropriate activites, but you can begin the list here in the comment section below, or add a sticky note to the wall I have created on Wallwisher.

Elder L.Tom Perry spoke in April 2011 General Conference about The Sabbath and the Sacrament. You can view an excerpt here, or the full talk here.
Below is a recording of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing the hymn "Sabbath Day". Listen carefully for activities at home or at church that are suggested for the Sabbath.

  1. I'm very much looking forward to what your others readers share when it comes to Sabbath day activities. As a Sunday school teacher and blogger, I have a stockpile of activities that I've done with my students—or plan to do with them in the near future. In fact, I have so many that it's impossible to pick my favorite! I tend to prefer creative, art-driven crafts over verse memorization and the like.

  2. Feel free to add as many as you like to our wall to get the ball rolling! Thanks for commenting, our lesson on Sabbath day is tomorrow so hopefully the wall will start to look a little more populated.
